Dr. N. K. Venkataramana is a renowned neurosurgeon known in national and international circles and the Founder, Chairman and Chief Neurosurgeon of BRAINS Super Speciality Hospital, Jayanagar, Bengaluru. With 45 years of experience and more than 15,000 surgeries to his credit, he is one of India’s most experienced neurosurgeons, with special interests in Parkinson’s disease, paediatric neurosurgery, spinal disorders and stereotactic radiosurgery.

A graduate of Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC), Tirupati, he holds an MCh in Neurosurgery and received micro-neurosurgical training at Nordstadt Krankenhaus, Hannover, Germany, followed by a Neuroendoscopy Fellowship in Mainz, Germany. After a successful career as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at NIMHANS, he founded the Manipal Institute for Neurological Disorders in 1991 and was instrumental in establishing the Advanced Neuroscience Institute at BGS Global Hospitals.

He is the founder of the ANSA Research Foundation, a non-profit promoting research on neuroscience, neurological disorders, cancer biology and stem cells. He has served as President of the Indian Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, has many publications in reputed journals and textbook chapters, and has delivered invited lectures and orations at national and international levels. He is a recipient of the Dr. B. C. Roy Award and the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
